How to cope with anxiety; how-to-cope-with-anxiety-like-a-pro

1.KNOW YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT FIRST

The first step to avoid work stress is to know your work environment , is it a safe space or a toxic one ? How are your workmates ? Do they encourage you or bully you? Knowing the kind of people you work with will help you avoid so many unnecessary drama. If you work in a very stressful and toxic area and you feel overwhelmed every day it is better to quit than loosing yourself to that, Your work environment contribute a lot to your productivity so this is the first thing you need to check.

But what if the environment is toxic but the salary is good and you need that money so bad do you quit the job? The answer is boundaries.

2. BOUNDARIES

Some people are not privileged to move from one job to another and sometimes life pushes you to work in a very toxic environment for the sake of survival and money , I have been there done that and here I am.

I used to work in a very toxic place where my mental health was tasted everyday and i couldn’t quit due to the amazing salary , the only thing that helped me survive was boundaries.

I set personal and professional boundaries to help me cope with stress and make the environment less stressful for me:

  • Personal boundaries: the first thing i did is to separate my normal life with my professional life like whenever I got to the office I leave my personal drama on the door and vice versa. Sometimes stress at work are due to gossip so the more you keep for yourself the less stressed you are, something I had to learn the hard way.

Another personal boundary is avoiding conflicts if you know certain situations and words triggers your stress or a bad reaction avoid them.

  • Professional boundaries: don’t take your work stress at home this may lead to chronic stress so the best thing is boundaries for example don’t check emails after working hours, don’t answer phone calls late in the evening etc.. . That is how you protect your mental health.

The greatest thing you can do for yourself is setting boundaries and choose yourself every day.

3. BE ORGANIZED AND HAVE A TO DO LIST

Most of the time my work stress is due to me being disorganized, being late for work and starting my day in a rush so my best remedy is to be organized , getting at work on time and start my day.

Being organized start from your morning routine, which is waking up early have time to set the tone of the day, eat , pray and plan my day before I even get to do the office. When i get there i then proceed to making work to do list.

For a person like me that live with anxiety I love being in control and go according to my own schedule so having a to do list makes me feel like I know what I am doing and this helps me stay concentrated and invested in what I am doing. I highly recommend having a to do list/plan of your daily activities this helps a lot in avoiding stress and work load.

4. STOP MULTITASKING

I know a lot of people say that multitasking is very effective and helps you save time but one thing I noticed is that when you are multitasking too many things you may end up doing things partially or even many mistakes so the best thing is to do one thing at a time.

To be honest i am not good at multi tasking, i am a perfectionist so i love taking my time and do my job. Check and recheck to make sure there is no mistake and this is very effective for me, when i try to multi task i always end up messing too many things so if you are this kind of person that multi task but still end up with no results try to do one task at a time it helps you avoid stress.

5. WORKOUT AND REST

It is very important to rest, overworking only leads to chronic fatigue and lack of concentration , i know people say the harder you work the bigger the check but there is no productivity without rest. REST AND RESET

One of the thing that can help you rest and get rid of work stress is working out, not only it is good for your physical health but for your mental health as well.

Take 30 minutes per day after work to stretch, move around and get out of the work mode it helps a lot

Those are my 5 easy and favorite ways you can avoid stress at your work space, make sure you let me know what works for you? Let mw know in the comment section and see you in a next blog.
